Partner News: On the Rise Financial Center featured on WABE’s “Closer Look” with Rose Scott
Award-winning journalist Rose Scott, host of WABE-FM’s public affairs program “Closer Look,” took a trip to the Westside’s On the Rise Financial Center recently to see its work in action and to discuss the impact their financial service offerings can have on the Westside community.
Scott visited with Regina Grant, program manager for On The Rise Financial Center, and Anna Foote, southeast regional director for On The Rise Financial Center.
Since opening its doors in April 2017, The Center has served as a resource for Westside individuals, families and small businesses to build financial health and wealth. It provides financial counseling and coaching, savings accounts and small dollar loans to help Atlanta’s Westside residents and their families achieve their financial goals.
The Center was first announced in June 2016 as part of the Westside Community Retention Collaborative’s strategy to provide resources and on-the-ground support for current and future residents.
The Collaborative includes organizations such as City of Atlanta’s Department of Planning and Community Development, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Atlanta Housing Authority, Invest Atlanta, Atlanta Beltline, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and the Westside Future Fund. The Collaborative also receives guidance and input from members of the community.
