Community News: YMCA moves to new headquarters on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Vine City
The YMCA has officially left downtown and moved to their new headquarters in the heart of Vine City at 569 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive NW. The HQ is accompanied by a new Leadership and Learning Center that will provide early childhood education, including 90 Head Start seats and nonprofit training and development for the region.
The 55,000 sq. ft. center demonstrates the YMCA’s long-standing pledge to meet the needs of the city, to anchor a community and invest in Atlanta’s children. The campus will incorporate both old and new elements with bricks saved from the former E.A. Ware Elementary School, one of the first African-American schools in Atlanta, which originally stood on this site, alongside state-of-the-art technology, playground, group exercise space, observation rooms, performance stage, library, a café and more.
