Partner News: The Home Depot Foundation commits $6.3M to help Atlanta’s Historic Westside
The Home Depot Foundation (THDF) is committing $6.3 million over the next five years to Atlanta’s Historic Westside community. This commitment will focus on critical home repairs, outdoor spaces, community development and skilled trades training.
THDF celebrated its announcement on Tuesday, March 20 with a “Spring into Service” volunteer day in Vine City. More than 70 members of Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate-led volunteer force, partnered with the Vine City Civic Association, HouseProud and Park Pride. Volunteers completed home repairs for two senior residents and worked on beautification projects in Vine City Park.
Throughout the day, Westside residents were invited to a free pop-up market of spring supplies. Residents could choose live goods, pottery and gardening tools at no cost. All of the remaining product in the pop-up market was donated to the community.
This week’s announcement furthers The Home Depot Foundation’s work in the Westside and is in addition to the $2 million it has already invested in the community.
Westside Future Fund is proud to call The Home Depot and The Home Depot Foundation partners in its work to support the equitable and sustainable revitalization of Atlanta’s Historic Westside. The Home Depot’s investment will specifically support Westside Future Fund’s mixed-income communities strategy, which includes its resident retention efforts.
