March Day of Service volunteers ready Jet Street Garden for spring
Westside Future Fund’s Day of Service took place at Jet Street Garden in the English Avenue community. Westside Future Fund Volunteers constructed benches, mulched walking paths and built garden boxes. These important updates will provide visiting English Avenue residents with a beautiful green space where they can rest and relax.
“Community health and wellness is vital to our Westside communities. If we can provide residents with access to quality parks and greenspace, we believe residents will not only utilize the spaces but get, and stay, healthier by using them regularly,” said Raquel Hudson, Westside Future Fund volunteer services director.
Since the inception of the Westside Future Fund Volunteer Program, 1,870 individuals have volunteered 6,422 hours. Sponsored by the Chick-fil-A Foundation, the program focuses on supporting the Westside Future Fund’s key impact areas, including quality affordable housing/mixed-income communities, safety and security, cradle-to-career education, and community health and wellness. It brings together residents, community members and business leaders who are all committed to investing personally in the future of the Westside community through volunteerism and philanthropy.
