CNN featured a story on the Secure Neighborhoods initiative as part of a series called “Bridging the Divide.” APD Officer Mike Costello moved into an Atlanta neighborhood through APF’s Secure Neighborhoods initiative and is changing how members of the community view police. The Secure Neighborhoods initiative helps APD officers live in the communities they serve. By providing affordable housing options, officers are able to rent or purchase homes in strategic neighborhoods throughout the City of Atlanta. This increases police visibility and enhances relationships between officers and citizens. APF’s Secure Neighborhoods Initiative is critical to public safety in Atlanta, with a measurable impact on crime reduction of up to 77% on streets where officers live.
